Midday Report

Nebraska comes back and holds on to beat Ball State, 41-40. Maybe that big win by USC didn't show all that much after all. How far has Nebraska fallen when a win against Ball State is a gut-check, teambuilding event?

Notre Dame finally scored an offensive touchdown, but as I type this, Michigan State takes the second-half kick and drives for a score to go up 24-14. Michigan State owns Notre Dame in South Bend (haven't lost at ND since 1993).

Navy comes back from an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter to snap Duke's 1-game winning streak, 46-43. A great win for Navy, who had lost two straight, but a sad, sour loss for Duke, who had just gotten off the 22-game schneid beating Northwestern last week.

Former Stanford coach Buddy Teevens and Dartmouth lose to New Hampshire (again). UNH has a serious program going. Speaking of which...

...UNH's former offensive coordinator Chip Kelly is now the OC at Oregon, and has the Ducks humming. I'm leaving within an hour to broadcast the Stanford-Oregon game from Stanford Stadium. We go on the air about 6:45 PM on KZSU 90.1 FM, and worldwide on the Internet at http://kzsulive.stanford.edu.
